A Case of Deja Vu

Ethan Update – Dec 11
The past week has been a bit of a blur and a bad case of déjà vu.

Ethan has only been at home for 10 days in the past 6 months (he left for camp on June 11). With his emergency surgery behind us, our focus has been on pain management and infection control. Ethan has moved from the PICU to the Post-Surgery Floor. His pain is finally under control. In true Ethan fashion, he did not respond to the typical pain meds so it took some trial and error to find the right combination to give him relief. Later today he will have a CT scan
which will give greater insight into the amount of infection remaining. As we know, Ethan never takes the easy path – this hospital stay is expected to be another 2-3 weeks but heavily dependent on the CT findings today and the amount of time it takes for his GI system to start up and accept feeds again (unfortunately, a process we know very well – it is not quick nor easy).
We remain surrounded by the

love and support of Team Ethan. Alexia's Mom, Stella Leontsini has arrived from Los Angeles for the next two weeks to lend support to us and spend time with Zakary and Elyse.

We have re-initiated our support team which was invaluable during Ethan's initial hospitalization. Right now we focus our energy on getting through each day as it comes.
Thank you for your continued positive thoughts, prayers and support. We could not keep up this effort without you. We will keep you all updated as we learn more later today or tomorrow.

Stay strong,
Alexia and Scott
