First Shabbat of 2014

While we attempted a light-hearted approach to New Year’s Eve (silly hats

and glasses, a couple of friends stopping by with slightly concealed “toasts”), when all was said and done we wanted nothing more from 2013 than to quietly usher it out the door. We turned off the lights by 11pm; no fanfare this year.
We welcome this first Shabbat of 2014

as we finished 2013 – searching for a source for Ethan’s fevers. The medical team has run into challenges finding an infection site or abscess to attribute Ethan’s fevers to. Yesterday Ethan had an upper GI and follow through study done and an endoscopy this afternoon. In true Ethan form, he is keeping his medical team on their toes; he has been in the hospital since December 3, and will not be discharged until a cause for his fevers has been identified, he is properly treated, and can take feeds and nutrition at his target rates.

We wish Team Ethan a relaxing weekend – Go Bengals! Shabbat Shalom.
